Is there a reliable yet cost effective way of reaching Hinjewadi from Pune
Railway Station? Yes there is, and the magic word is the Tumtum. There's this secret yet most effective and reliable network of Tumtums spread all over the city of Pune. This network helps one reach from any location to any other in the most economic way. Not to forget these Tumtums are one of the fastest modes of transport on the busy streets of Pune.

Here's how I'd suggest reaching Hinjewadi Phase 1 from Pune Railway station.

Take an Auto Rikshaw from Pune Railway Station to Shivajinagar bus stop (the one on Pune University Road). It took me about 32 Rupees for this journey. There is a series of TumTums standing just about 20-30 feet ahead of the bus stop in front of Pune Observatory office. Take TumTum to Dange Chowk. This TumTum would cost about 20 Rupees and drop you right next to the Dange Chowk.

At Dange Chowk, walk some distance on left Turn (about 100 feet or
so) and there are again a set of TumTums waiting to take us to
the next destination.
Get in the TumTum which is waiting to start with some passenger already
waiting inside. Ask whether the TumTum goes to Hinjewadi, ask for drop
at Hinjewadi Phase 1. Journey price - Rs. 10.
So, one can reach Hinjewadi from Pune station in about 30-45 minutes using this shared network of Tumtums without burning the pockets. One can make the travel in just 60-65 Rupees.
Useful tip
Always ask the Tumtum or Rikshaw wala the whereabouts of catching the Tumtum for next leg of journey.
Word of caution
Ensure safety. Also, if you've heavy luggage, try other alternatives such as Taxi cab.
